Making the Photo: “Turning the Page”
Welcome to the first ever “Making the Photo” by Dear Bubbles! I’m so excited to kickoff this new video series on the third Wednesday of every month in hopes it expands your ideas and inspiration for your own photography.
For this month, I’m featuring an image request from Toby. It’s called “Turning the Page” in October 2021 from Acadia National Park, Maine. In this video, get a behind-the-scenes look at why this scene caught my eye, how I approached the scene from a creative and technical perspective, what exposure settings and other camera equipment I used, and the processing techniques I used to polish my image into my final vision. Hear more about how thinking about relationships between shapes, conducting a tone check, and using our emotional responses guide our technical decisions—and how sometimes there is more than one right answer when it comes to making images..!! (This first episode features a short introduction which future episodes will not include.)
